Runestones, inscribed with the runes that formed an alphabet but also carried enormous spiritual significance, were the ancient Vikings’ way of commemorating momentous events, places, or people — and I’d say hearing from you would qualify! Shown here are the rune tones of my undergraduate alma mater, Pacific Lutheran University. Originally installed to mark the visit of King Olav V of Norway, they have since borne witness to many other significant Norwegian-American events.
